60% of Hanno Prettner's Kato Models plan from outerzone.co.uk
Didn't even print.
Download on my iPad showed 96mm span. Made mine 96cm to ease calculating other dimensions.
Main spar has taper and sweepback. Retained taper, but cheated by straightening the sweep.
Hence TE is swept forward more than in the original.
Finally found a use for my 2200kv Turnigy 2826. Surprisingly it took a 7x4 without overloading. But then i usually fly at half throttle, including takeoff/launch!
(Canopy is fibreglass. Yet to build new cowl, for which new plug made)

After my maiden, Harveer couldn't resist.
He had even brought along a spare Rx (he's Mode 1)

Me and my friend are on Mode 2, so we share and fly alternately  Smiley

hopefully once I graduate to sport flyers I will build a similar one  Wink  (i'm at slow-flyer .... full size trainer ..........sport).

also you calculate your battery time or estimated time to set the down timer on the radio or  Head Scratching. I use a up timer throttle activated for flight timing.

Glad to report that my 60% Curare Foamy enabled me to achieve a long awaited goal.
Half roll immediately after takeoff, followed by half outside loop, coming back full bore towards me...

But i did wonder why she needed so much up trim to fly level (pic 1)

Found that foamy fuselages bend downwards under tension of the rubber bands under the wing!

Solution: balsa stiffeners on the sides (pic 2)

Proof of theory tomorrow...

Last two Sundays she didn't fly too well.
I guessed the reason must be the slop in the left aileron linkage.
Fixed that today.
Flew beautifully today. Including continuous inverted circuits.
So got the courage to do consecutive Cuban 8s.
Result: Crash!

Last two weeks we had a few failures.
Flying Doc's Skysurfer lost all command and crashed.
After a few minutes, everything worked, and flew fine.
My Curare suddenly went into a vertical dive, fortunately recovering just in time.

Since we found that the batteries, motors, ESCs and even receivers are getting unusually hot, we figured it was the hot weather upsetting the receivers.

Could that be the reason?
Can 40 deg centigrade affect the Rx? Should Rx be placed outside? Will try that.
Or is it Pilot Error that we are blaming on the radio?
I used FrSky 2.4 module and 4ch Rx on these flights.
Will be back as soon as I fix the Curare!

@sahilkit,
Thanks for the idea. Worth checking.
It will give the temp sensor something to do!
Only used it once about a year ago to check ambient temp. (29deg on ground, 28 at 300ft)

Rx will lose communication in case of a brownout - when
motor is drawing too much power and the pack voltage dips , even for
a very short while

while the rx can easily work down to 3.3 volt levels the linear regulator
in a esc can only supply a steady 5 volts if there is a +2 volt difference
on the input side.

did this happen well into the flight while doing high throttle maneuvers  ? and was the pack - a well used one ?

to safe guard against this - 100% peace of mind - use a separate rx pack- even a single cell
Lipo of 200 mah is enough as the load of rx will be around max 50 mah and
the frsky rx work upto 3.3 volt levels.

All the above is from experience - pls validate before doing.

@saikat sir,
Thanks. Separate battery may a good precaution.

But sometimes i wonder if we look for esoteric reasons and miss prosaic ones.
Open heart surgery (not autopsy!) showed broken elevator pushrod (1/8 sq balsa. In hindsight too soft)

Could have cracked due to accidental external load while moving fully assembled in/out of car.
Breakage due to crash seems unlikely as no such load noticed.

Pushrod splinted. New nose to be built. With larger air inlet!
