In Thrust, I Trust

Decided to build a plane using coroplast. Followed the basic dimensions of the FT Duster (Plans available on www.flitetest.com) However, modified it quite a bit. So, here goes my first SPAD.

Folded the wing. Made the spar using doubled 5mm coro. The dihedral on the wing is 2 inches.

Don't have the photos. I took the two spars (one of each side) and placed them at the angle that I wanted. I then stuck a piece of plywood on either side to hold it in that position. The plywood also gives strength to the centre section. I am starting a new build in which I'll he using the same technique, will show detailed pics of that

Priyum, it takes some practice. I would suggest practicing on scrap coro and then cutting the actual parts. Also leave enough tolerance, so that if you don't get the proper shape in the first time, you can cut a little more to get the shape.

Everyone has their own favorite way of cutting and bending coro. Go through spadtothebone and spadworld to get an idea. Then try the techniques yourself.

Looks neat, clean and robust.
Seems like you have added too much weight for the wing size. cant say without enough evidence.
Landing gear seems tricky, will try it from my next build.
Where did you get those control horn with bolts. I need them for my Piper.

I'm using vinyl sheet, which is available at signboard printers. It's like a huge sticker. I cut it into the desired shape and stick it on the plane.

Maiden flight video:
The plane has enough lift, but because CG was much above the wing, the plane wanted to keep rolling to inverted position. We tried about 5 times, 3 of which were hand launch, but the plane refused to fly straight side up. It was too unstable in the roll axis.

Flew a total of 3 flights. On the third flight, I tried taking a sharp turn at full throttle and the plane lost control. Dived straight into the ground. Not much damage, plane is fixable, motor shaft is not bent, however, I did strip the gears on one aileron servo.
As of now, I have decided to not fix this plane and have started building another plane, a 90% AviSpad.
