Ashta

hello,
after making the full size polaris(29 inches WS),
Link = http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/polaris-water-plane/
i was very happy with its stability, flying characteristics and its excellent looks.
Hence, i decided to make a 60% version of polaris, with about 18 inches WS. I could use thje following gear and make it very light.

Polais 18 inch. 3mm depron.
16 gram 1700 KV, 16 grams motor
9 grams x 2 servos.
Assan receiver
6 A esc
450mah 3 cell.
AUW =180 grams.= 6.34 Oz
Approx wing loading = 5oz/sq feet

Original Polaris is 29 Inch WS
AUW= about 600 grams
Wing loading=8.4 oz/sq feet

Maidened it today. it flew very well. will post some videos. mean time here are some build photos. I reduced the original plan to 60%. Since i was not too sure of the success and also being the first one, my build was bit coarse.

The current wot = 5 amps.
Normal flying is about 2.5 amps.

Thats the exact beauty of this model just 180 grams auw and fly with 25 watts power for 10 min flight time.

will post some videos soon.

Really want to see how this baby flies. Nice build as usual.  {:)} . The motor mount is really great. Is the motor mounted at any angle?

Flew this little bird at jakkur on sunday. it flew very well.
Being so small, was difficult to take video.
Here are tow videos, one thjru my hatcam. Both are poor in quality. more of a proof that it flies.
thanks for watching

Yesterday I met Ashta at Jakkur, He told me a secret. He has a magic wand.  (:|~ Once he builds plane, He does some magic on the plane using the wand and they fly in one go.  ;)

He has agreed to teach us how to build that wand!  :thumbsup:

I am intrigued by the fact that Ashta mentioned these planes are built from Depron.  Is real Depron available in Bangalore (and other parts of the country) ?  Or is it regular foam ("biofoam") which is more brittle ?

It looks like the foam plates (used for serving food) is pretty close to Depron (if not Depron itself), but good Depron sheet availability is still an issue ?
