Hi. I am new here and want help regarding quadrotor making. I searched the forum, but couldn't get much. So thought of asking again.

I want to know the details about the components that are needed for making the quad.

Further, i want to keep a wireless camera and a gas sensor in that quad.

I hope someone can help.

I searched the forum for parts list but couldn't get.

Ok. Thanks for your post. Actually I used the keywords like quadrotor components etc got several results but in all that the users were telling about their experience that's all.

Maybe I missed the correct one or I should have changed the keyword.

Amen to that Smiley  You need to be "to the point" or "creative" or both when it comes to searching. Google is forcing all of us to learn this art !

You should always ask your questions fearlessly (after searching first, of course).  Various people here know various aspects of the same thing, so posting in public is your best option on any questions you have.

Ok. Flight controllers are available in the market in ready made manner. Right?

Can we make them manually?

Of course... but you have to do a lot more searching on this forum and else where.

http://www.rcindia.org/self-designed-diy-and-college-projects/quadrotor/

http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/controlling-of-quadcopter-problem/

Just search and read.  Not just on this forum, but in general.

hi QuadGang.
if you want to start off and  learn how to build one for hobby sake then here's the list
1. A good proven flight controller. (That's a big list and the famous ones are http://www.rcgroups.com/multirotor-electronics-792/
2. Frame  ( If you know how to cut, drill and screw (with a screwdriver) you can build one yourself
3. Motors (  Depends on usage and thrust and Budget)
4. Props ( Depends on usage Thrust and Budget)
5. Radio + reciever ( Depends on usage and budget.  A 6 channel should be good for hobby)

You can buy a ready made from hobbyking:

How much thrust will a 1000kv motor set give? What should be the battery rating and the corresponding controller to be used?

I went through the links provided. Thanks for that. But I couldn't find the details about building the flight control board all by ourself.

I hope you at least got a feeling for the issues involved, and some of the effort required.  The idea was never to give you a "here is the schematic, here are the parts required, go build" kind of answer.  In fact, if you want that, here is a thread by Ashta bhai, where he implemented a well known design from base components.

http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/mutli-wii-controller-from-bangalore/

What you need to realize is that you have a whole lot more of searching, learning, planning and execution to do... if you go down this path.  You are at the first 100 meters of a full marathon.  But the journey will be worthwhile, and very rewarding Smiley

If we use camera or some additional weight to the quad do we have to change the codings?

Every aircraft will behave differently when its AUW changes. How much does it change depends on how big the weight is, how much spare thrust you have etc.  In the case of quads, you *may* need to tweak the control loop variables after changing the AUW. I am not sure if you have to tweak the software itself, but the tuning parameters (gain, PID values) may well need to be tweaked.  Tuning anything like this is mostly trial and error, since no two crafts are the same.

okay. Thanks for the info. Again is the coding process very tedious? Will it take months for making? If we buy ready made control boards, will they come with firmware loaded?

It is no different than asking "how long does it take to build a house". It depends on what type of house, how good a builder you are, are you going to use prefabricated windows/doors, etc etc.  In short, no one can realistically answer your question, except yourself.  The code for many controllers are open source, so you can take a look at them and get a fair idea for how many lines of code etc.  You can also start off with someone's pre-existing code, but not use everything from them and make your own tweaks etc.

In short, you have a lot of research and decisions ahead of yourself, and you alone can decide on your path (and destiny!).

I am also doing a quad for my final year project, but I started towards the end of my second year at college Tongue
Funding is the biggest issue that I faced and am facing still. Anything that flies comes back down, violently so when you are starting to learn. I am not discouraging you, just giving putting the facts on the table. For a very basic quad capable of carrying an approximate payload of 200gms , you are looking at about 14K. You can get it up and running for about 8k but you will need the extra cash as you break props and burn escs Grin We are here to help Smiley Best of luck!!

Many quad controllers, especially the widely used HK ones come with some version of firmware pre-loaded.  They may or may not be in the configuration that you are looking for ("X" versus "+" etc), but you can make a flying quad out of most of them, without the need to load another version of firmware yourself.

All this is discussed many times here, please do search and read.
