need help,i have never opened a tx ever this is my first time so decide to do some changes and learn something as im not good in electronics will need the best advice and help.
Got this second hand dx5e Tx,seems like it was hacked already antena was changed ,trim buttons missing but anyway i removed the module with help of a friend  thaught we would make a module for my futaba t6ex to fly dsm2 micro airplanes it was complicated  Bang Head( but still if anyone has any idea or has done it with futaba t6ex please advice) so its back in the tx now Thumbs Up. everything function well again now thank god.i thaught it would not.

now what ,ok i got an idea, will clean the tx good, make the antena look good ,also the plastic trim buttons were missing for the throttle and rudder trims (left stick pic1). Head Scratching

since i use elevator and alerions trim  (right stick) mostly i decided to simply remove only the plastic trim tabs from the throttle and rudder trims (left stick pic1)and put it on the elevator and alerions trim  (right stick).after doing this the elevator and alerions trim (right stick) with the plastic trims stoped functioning no beeps no nothing. Bang Head.. now what Bang Head called my tech officer sahilkit  Wink he said  to try   ,

opening the tx and connecting the throttle and rudder pcb trims (left stick)  to the connecters 6wire connector of the elevator and alerions trim  (right stick)did the same and it worked.so we then decided to remove the throttle and rudder pcb trims (left stick) along with the plastic trim buttons and use it as elevator and alerions trim (right stick pic2 trims swapped)it works fine now.
However the throttle and rudder pcb trims dont work and i have removed them(pics in next post)

1st picture when recived the dx5e and second picture after a good clean and setting the antena which doesnt stick out at all now Wink, and moving the trims and pcb's.
need the pcb trims in next post  for throttle and rudder trims..... please help ,advice, or assist from were to buy.

realised that it could be the switches or wires faulty . any one has pcb trims(in pic) for this  dx5e ,or the plastic trim buttons which you dont need and are lying around do let me know. Pictures below are frount and back of the throttle and rudder pcb trim buttons which i need to get this tx working .

Nice work.
I love bringing old gear back to life.

Anyway, seems like the tx you bought was very badly taken care of.
In case you are not able to find those buttons, I suggest you make them on your own, the circuitry is simple as hell, and the buttons and all readily available.

Though another thought comes to mind, the pcb trims only have 2 diodes and 2 buttons, and buttons are the only mechanical parts, therefore if anything is wrong, it must be the buttons. You can just buy new ones and replace them and it should work.

Plus, what would it take to have the antenna come out of the hole at top, where it supposed to be?
Try doing that, would look better, shouldn't be hard.

Antenna is ok this way for me as it doesnt stick out from top and when bent it goes directly under the handle .... this will help for travel if all goes well. i too feel it is the button or may be the 6pin connector .i guess finding those plastic trim buttons will be the problem

On the rudder and elevator trim pcbs, check the action of switches using multimeter (in continuity mode), the problem will be mostly with the tactile switches, as foxrc said, thee are easily available in electronics shops .

Re:

You might not be using all the 4 trims, try using only 2buttons for ele, aileron. This will solve your issue. As others said, the circuit is merely a switch. Try finding the points till the circuit board, then short these points using a screwdriver when the tx is on, you should hear the beeps. If yes, then its the switch fault, replace the switches. P.s. if you do not understand what i have said, please do not do it without some experts help.  Good luck.

frankly im sorry  i did not understand im illaterate in electronics but im learning how much i can,  would need to see a video or show someone who knows what he is doing and watch him do it, did not understand what you meant by"using only 2buttons for ele, aileron."why to touch elv and alerions when my throttle and rudd is not working.and elev and alr is fine. I will be using rud, elev, thr and alerions

Re:

Normally, you might find little use for rudder nd throttle trims, while trimming a plane you trim it for level flight using ele, ail and we hardly use rudder and throttle, so if the ele, ail trims are working fine, there is no need to open the tx for now.

Questions?
- is that the distance these linear servos move when thay are being  trimed with the dx5e or should they go all the way to the end?Huh?Huh???
- the reverse servo buttons are kind of hard to reverse, may be not used for long, what will help to free it so it can be easily reversed?Huh??

There is a specific switch for this, used in dvd player boards, which tells the uc that the tray has reached the either ends, you can use that to replace both the buttons of one channel trim, with this mod, you wont need a trim tab at all, search for your local market to see any dead dvd drives, and you will find them inside, i cannot post pics as i cannot find one now in my drawer, but i hope you understand.
