Do remember, the pinion hardness should be less than the gear hardness, if not then the pinion is going to wear out the gear and changing a gear would be expensive than changing a pinion. If rpm is high and power transfer is also high (roughly estimating over 200 watt for your pinion), then do give my suggestion a second though. Even if the involute profile of the gear teeth are not cut properly then there is trouble to be seen. Gear design is a critical and complex field.
