RC India

Hello RCIndia,
This is my first post and I am very new to rc aviation and I have enjoyed going through a lot of posts on this forum today. I am an engineering student based in mumbai and I was always interested in building my own RC plane. Now I have a few doubts:
1) I believe the DC motor is a brushless DC motor, with ESC. Now What should be the rpm of the motor? And size of propellor? Should i purchase it off rc dhamaka? http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=760 Will this do? Ill need an ESC with it too right?
2) How does the controller work? From where should I purchase it? Which one? Can someone go into the technicality of its working, whats the different kinds available etc. How does it interconnect with the ESC and Servo motor in such a way that no microcontroller or anything is needed for interfacing? Basically Rx Tx Connections? And how the ESC is connected with the rx so that speed control is possible?
3) What kind of battery would I need? And of what power specifications?

Thanks in advance for the help, It is very surprising how there is such a huge community of RC fans still I dont find good documentation at the technical end to get me started, Your help will be great to get me started. Also as a beginner I have a very small budget and would prefer cost saving solutions, Specially in reference to controllers?

I'd like to run you through what I have understood and where presently I am stuck at:

So basically I am going to be requiring the following components to make a complete RC Plane:

1) Brushless DC Motor - I am considering a motor that works on 3cell, 11.1V which is (http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=273) But now there is this one more motor: http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=760 which works on a 2cell battery but provides much higher revolutions and much higher kV for what I assume a higher current consumption? What should I choose?

2) The recommended propeller with that particular motor is 7"x6", 7" is a huge diameter which is very much bigger than my design, Maximum I could fit for my want of a slow plane is 4.1x4.1E (http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_48_80&products_id=262)

3) The battery that I will require if 3cell is: http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=102_94&products_id=792

Now as the 2 cell is more cheaper, Lighter I think that should be more suitable for my design right? What are the advantages of 3cell battery and motors, If the 7V motor can give a higher rpm?

4) An ESC to control the speed will be required to,

These are just assumptions, Because I dont really know how much current the motor will draw.

Doubts:

1) The current draw for the motors above mentioned nor is the wattage, Are not provided on the website, What is the method to find them? because the ESC I have selected are just assumptions.

2) My second doubt from original post, remains unanswered:

3) Would you recommend me the additional accessories I will require i physically making the plane, Foam I can get locally, How would you suggest I should design one? I see a lot of materials available on RC Dhamaka(Probably use carbon fibre rod for center chassis of plane?).

The controllers I find on the website are very expensive, While I have read up on net that cheap chinese ones are available. I assume I will buy a 3channel radio only.

i wud suggest hobby king in case u need to buy a lot of stuff....... ie. entire set of electronics....
this site is a real rc heaven.... DONT U DARE ORDER TX /RX.......
2.4GHZ tx is illegal in india.... customs will not allow......
for that u can go for sites in india

do more research....... calmly.... u wont need mch of technical knowledge....... even u have it its good .....but keep it side for now....... things r pretty simple in RC world....... (i am a medical student  :giggle: :giggle:) but still cud manage it

1 propelers..... (many wud break)
2 propsavers....
3 hot glue gun (hardware shop)
4 try a radio that is simulator compatible..... like turnigy 9ch (hobbyking 6ch) is also gud option ..... just need how to fly safe way..... its not that simple...
5 advisable to buy extra servos..... chinese are cheap but can break

One more piece of advice .. do not be in hurry to buy parts....... first decide what you are going to make.....
firstly plan small plane 30-40" wing span. pusher are much safer against crashes. Do keep browsing Hobbyking.com while you read you will get queries read the reviews you will get most of answers..... select a plane get the plans decide on the electronics then buy. otherwise you will end up with useless stuff.
For very initial experience try Leo RC simulator on android phone.... it will let u understand some basics...
