Got my test rig set up, and checked the performance of the QRC 049.
I got it in 1990 and last flew it in 1992. Test ran it last year.
Here are today's test run figures:
6x3 Cox prop,13200rpm, 250gms thrust on 10% nitro, 16% syn oil + 10% castor oil.
That's 41 watts, or 0.053 bhp.
6x3 Cox prop, 13500 rpm, 270gms thrust on 10% nitro, 16% syn oil + 5% castor oil.
That's 45.6 watts, or 0.058 bhp.
Peter Chinn reported 13400 to 14100rpm on 6x3 props in his test report in May 1967 Aeromodeller.
But that was with 15% nitro Cox Thimbledrome fuel.
Not bad going for a 30+ years old Cox!
But it ran HOT.
Wonder what it'll do on 25% nitro.
I forget whether more nitro makes it run hotter or cooler.
Maybe add 1 or 2 head gaskets...
Thought it better to have a separate thread for this, instead of being in my 'No field, no flying thread.
