hello to all mambers
HAPPY KITE FLYING DAY :thumbsup:
Today is Makar Sankranti and is celebrated in India in many different ways. For example, in Assam, this day is celebrated as "Uruka". The entire family gathers around a camp fire and roasts various food items ranging from potatoes to fish and meat. It (Uruka) ushers in Maagh / Bhogali Bihu. A time for feasting and merriment.
In Gujarat it it celebrated as the "International Kite Flying Day". I may not be able to fly a kite today (due to professional commitments), but I will definitely do so tomorrow the 16th of Jan 2011. I had bought many kites but never had the chance to fly them.
Nehutech, thanks for waking me up!

The famous Makaravilakku (pronounced as Ma-ka-ra-vila-kku) at the shrine of Sabarimala in Kerala.
This year Kerala kite festival is coming up, on Jan. 22 & 23 at Cochin. {:)}
