Title: Electric Control Line Model Plane - Arc
Post by: Rajib on September 11, 2012, 04:08:57 PM
In student life at Air Wing NCC I used to build/fly Control Line model planes. Those CL models were powered by 3.2cc Diesel type Sharma Engine. But engine is not very safe for small kids. So I was thinking about Electric Control Line model plane for kids. Stevens Aero selling Electric Control Line kits and accessories: http://www.stevensaero.com/Control-Line-p-1-c-319.html

I found many nice video at their websites and even on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnjJoRJ6qHI

So I decided to build a nice electric control for small kids so they can step into this hobby and enjoy flying. It requires no R/C and servos, just need motor, esc, li-po battery, e-flite control line motor timer and some threads to fly this model. This kit will be laser cut and at very reasonable price.

Earlier I’ve made one control line model kit name Blaze. No.2 Ben Air Sqn NCC now only using this model. So I simply scale it down and made one smaller version control line model kit named it Arc.

Specification:
Wing Span: 650mm
Length: 425mm
Weight: 100gm w/undercarriage w/o motor, battery and electronics.

I am trying to make it less than 75gm including wheels, this is proto type and made with Indian balsa wood, not from imported balsa. If I use imported balsa then I guess it will be within 50gm. I will make both type kits, with Indian balsa and with imported balsa too.

Note: I want comments and advice from all of you, price of the kits will tell later at Sale section.

Even small motors are not safe for adults... so play with caution!

Great build and Nobel cause!! Keep it up!

very nice proportions for a cl model

at 26" you will need about 40' lines - power required will be quite a lot
to overcome line drag

I am definitely interested. Please let me know details of availability and price.
I have built a SPAD C/L model based on Mr. Clean's BUSTAHOR  design.
Great Plane to fly and virtually indestructable- which is essential for beginners.
Will post a thread shortly
regards
Avijit
