Here is a somewhat different design & build from my usual composites
It is a profile pattern flyer made of epp. The plan was to have a large wing area without going big on span, hence a very big root cord. (structurally stiffer, less wt, aerodynamically less prone to stalling compared to a thin cord.. drag not being an issue). The elliptical taper keeps the LD right.
The flying surfaces are 9mm flat plate epp (hotwired out of a epp block). It has some carbon strips embedded in the foam for stiffness and strength. Also there is a kevlar string rigging across the fuselage, wings and tail surfaces to prevent against twisting. It has live hinges in the aileron, elevator and rudder (no tape used).
A stunning looking plane AND flies beautifully, very steady and controlled in all aspects. .. it is also very rugged
