Title: Sub-gram single channel IR controlled micro plane
Post by: kiran rc on June 11, 2016, 01:00:54 PM
Hello Everyone!  :)
Here is another micro plane which I have built recently. Wait...... Guess what! This one is just below a 'Gram'!!!
Though it's a single channel, rudder can be manually adjusted to get some turns. The model can be controlled through any of the conventional TV remote!
But still I am experimenting on the model to convert it to 2-3ch. Video will be here in a short while.

Specification:
3 inch Wingspan
3.2mm coreless motor
CX-10 cut down prop
10mah lipo cell
Homemade infrared receiver

Weight Breakdown:
Motor-0.30g
RX-0.10g
Lipo-0.35g
Airframe-0.15g
Misc-0.06g
Total-0.96g

First pic-RX of the model
Last pic shows the weight of 10 matchsticks which is a little more than the plane. ;D

Nice example of KISS principle.

@kiran rc,
Another excellent achievement!

What does the remote do? Turn motor on and off?

Thank you :)
@ KK Iyer,
Sir, yes it does only the job of turning on and off. The motor runs as long as a key on the remote is pressed. Another advantage is that the model doesn't fall of suddenly after cutting the infrared transmission, it continues for about a second or two to ensure safe landing. This was done by adding a 220uf cap in the circuit.

This is still an experiment. I am still working on '2ch IR Tx and Rx' which would be about the same weight as this one.

@ Voice of deaf
Yes different Rx. I will be using a micro-controller for both Tx and RX.

:thanks: Roman, Sundaram sir,

@Sundaram
It's a TSOP75338TR from vishay electronics.
