Title: Max Voltage for a Walkera Rx
Post by: VC on March 21, 2010, 11:17:12 PM
Hi Everybody!

Sometime back, I bought a Walkera type, Cyclone 4 Ch Tx and Rx set off a forum member. However, he couldn't tell me the Voltage / Ampere rating of the Battery Pack (Ni Mh / Ni Cd) that goes into the Heli and is connected to the Rx unit. Would be grateful if someone could advise the specs of this Battery pack. This heli used a brushed motor and the Rx contains a Brushed ESC.

I also need the same info for a Dragonfly 6 Ch Tx and Rx unit. Here too, the Rx includes a built in Brushed ESC. What battery pack (Max Voltage/ Ampere Rating) do I need to use? I am going to stick to Ni Cd / Ni Mh. Not venturing into Li Po.

Regards,

VC

most receiver have 5v/6v rating
do u have a mannual of the receiver?
it will tell u the exact rating
that could be matched to ur esc
and the A of battery depend on how long do u want ur aeroplane to be in the air
but is also limited by the weight of ur model
the voltage depends[if u r supplying to the esc] on the input of esc
u need to find the mannual/specs of ur esc and u'll get the answer

So that we don't make mistakes by guessing, can you find any web references (or pictures) of the exact units ? If you cannot find them, then we have no choice.

Due to the weight advantages, some aircraft are designed for lipo use, so using NiCD would make the setup so heavy that it would affect the flight stability.  So you may not be able to avoid lipos entirely.

hi VC
did you find the info on the walkera tx??
I have a walkera WK-2401 tx and it takes 8 AA battery and a charge socket labled 12v   50mA
any use for you?
some tx only use 6 AA batts But then that is supplied with a 'SMALLER' battery tray/compartment.

Hi Don,

I have been using the Walkera Tx/Rx with 8 X 1.2 NiMH @ 1000mAh batteries without any major issues. There hasn't been any overheating. I guess 9.6 v is safe.

Cheers!

hamate
if you use the 'non rechargeable' aa then they are 1.5v and total 12.v these are supplied with some tx,
I use 3s lipo in all my tx, the prob with using 1.2v is they are shorter times between recharge.........................
I recharge my tx lipo once a month with daily flying.................in the summer :-)
the AA I used to use were 1.2v  2700mah ..................... after the origional 1.5v were done.
