Title: Kit built Quadcopter for the 2014 Sweepstakes
Post by: VC on April 17, 2014, 09:08:29 PM
Was trying to refrain from joining the build frenzy, however, I have capitulated.

The kit was cut by Yashodhan and reached me on 8th. April. Constructed it yesterday.

Landing shocks from 2" PVC pipes, the steel ring was added to increase the strength of the frame. I cannibalised it from a wheel hub cap.

Total weight of frame : 238 grams!

I like the 'landing shocks'. Simple and brilliant!

@VC sir,
No wonder you spied the DT700s. 6 of them!
They are Adiboy's, who while trying to epoxy the power wires to the hub, managed to stick them solid.
Should i soak them in acetone now?

(Aah the days of scrounging for worn out cycle tyres to salvage spring steel wire for undercarts from...)

PS: since it is a kit, you are within the BOM rules...

@controlflyer +1

He is the master of all things modeling :D

@VC ji .. The idea of using the wheel hub cap spoke is exceptional, very few of us would be able to think of that.  You are being extremely humble by not taking credit where credit is due.
Btw have you attached the ring using thread and glue?

What setup are you planning on using?

regards
