Here is a video of a 850mm glider being tandem launched from a electric powered plane ..

The glider is of a "plank flying wing". Airfoil is AG38. It has full TE elevons. AUW 185gms. And the launching  aircraft was a EasyTrainer.

The glider was strapped on-to the Easytrainer belly with a thin rubber strap, which was locked in place by a servo actuated arm. On activation, the servo arm released the rubber strap and dropped the glider..

Both the aircraft were actively flown on the way up. .. i.e the glider was also controlled and flown to reduce the  load on the launching plane.

The glider glides amazingly well........ which can be seen in the video.

Another happy surprise: I recently went to Chandni market and found stores that sold radios, rcvr, and servos for very low prices. io games
Most schools offer robotics classes, which is why stores have started carrying them. I also looked it up on Google and found that RadioMaster speakers are sold online in India for a pretty good price.

It is very effective.. and the good part is it purely slows down... without and loss or increase in lift. Hence very manageable and predictable behaviour. Also with very minimal structural changes to the original airframe

And I can imagine your set-up....cutting edge in those days of Free flight and dethermalizers.

Only 1 engine is remaining.

Cox engines are rare, and nobody else imports them in India.
