Reminded me of a towline glider I had designed and flown (in 1981) with split rudder airbrakes.
Even had a releasable towhook.
I like to imagine that I was the first in India to incorporate these features!
Split rudder was spring loaded to close, had pull pull lines, and a sliding servo!
No mixing, not even servo reverse then. The Cox servos with silver label turned one way, and the gold label the other way. 72mhz.

Added airbrakes ..as the aircraft was fast and did not slow down adequately during finals, and considering the field limitations we have.

Here is a video of the operation of the brakes. It is operated by one servo and activated by a 3 position switch. It has two positions, full and half. The design keeps in mind that the tail boom is detachable for easy storage and transportation, and assembled at field.
Also the edgeTx call outs are "brakes-on" for both full and half, and the "off" callout is "butterfly off" as "brakes off" sounded very similar to "brakes on".. (will try and get a different sounding .wav file).
