what foam is this
its 10mm thick ???
"this" is not a foam. Its a forum for rc enthusiasts
Are you referring to a picture that you forgot to post? :P
What you men by this thread... pls post pics....
Sent from my Canvas using tapatalk 2
I cant post the pics from my tablet its not coming ill post as soon as my father leaves the laptop
pics
i found it in my house hiddden
if it is depron then ill start making my plane
i dont think its depron(or biofoam) cause of foalding so much without crease it breaks i thinks its kind of thermocol...
so can I make an rc plane with this
u can make plane out of anything u just need something which can bare wind force and does not break by the friction of air at high speed...
it can break if we press it does depron break

Re-enforce it with CF rods. yes, even depron can crack and break.
ok i will so i am going to start the work by next week till that going to deside what to build
want to make a cessna or a blubaby or a j3 cub or a tuffy or a axn floater or even thge tiranga glider
Making a plane with normal thermocol is not particularly easy. If you can, post a macro picture of the foam. If its depron, the granules will be very small, if its thermocol, it will be brittle and break into small balls.
And please punctuate your posts, it becomes difficult to understand otherwise. :)
here is the granules of it
its look like normal thermocol used for craft purpose i wouldn't recommend it for building planes..
its not normal thermocol theres a lot more difference in them
Its packing thermocol then. Not suitable for planes.
high density thermocol can be used right

Nitesh: you are in Chennai. Have you visited Mr. Sai in Rc For All? (rc4all.co.in) He will be able to give you good advice, and you might be able to pick up a few things from him.
From your above list, if you are going in for foam, go for Blu Baby; for Corro then Taitil's Tiranga seems good; for ready built then Sky Surfer, or, if available, Multiplex Easystar 2

Packing thermocol is high density stuff, that's what i thought too after looking at the granules, but it can't bend that much, it's very stiff.
so what is it and can it be used for making a plane
This is not Thermocole of any kind. No Thermocole can bend that much. Are you sure that this is not the priceless EPP foam that we salivate about?
iam not sure what it is and i did not buy it was lying around my house

Wow seems you are Bob the Builder!!!
no iam not
and also is coro the samething as sunboard or foam board
I think, from what I have seen in the image - this is EPP.....
Quick test - try and press it, normal thermocol and even biofoam would leave an impression of your fingers, EPP would kind of bounce back - much like soft pencil eraser
If it is EPP, then just build whatever you feel like.....
it left an slight impression

VC bhai, that material, apparently, seems to have all characteristics of EPP!
This does not look like epp to me. This is just normal packing foam. The white cushioning foam that comes with electronic goods.
EDIT : After looking at some of the later pictures, it is certainly not packaging foam. I think that this could be epp.
Sorry, Double post.
can i make an rc plane with this with reiforcements of cf :banghead:

Why don't you try building something with it, my friend? :D
Everyone here are puzzled about what exactly the material is, so you can't expect anyone to tell you with all their confidence that you can build a proper model with it. So now, get experimenting.
so next week blubaby flight without electronics
I think you should try to sand it with water proof sandpaper, If it become soft and smooth, you can make a plane with this foam. 8-)
I was trying it yesterday it became very smooth
will post the pictures after sometime
this is the foam and sand paper
this is the dust and the foam piece after sandiung
It looks like low density thermocol to me.
but low density thermocol does'nt bend

It does. 10mm thick sheets of low density thermocol can actually bend quite a bit before giving away.
so no plane

You can still build a model with it.
Recently, I visited a fellow RCI member ''bmblb'' (his profile-- http://www.rcindia.org/profile/?u=877) and I was surprised to see him build and fly models out of normal thermocol that you find in stationery shops. He had used packing tape over the thermocol to prevent it from shattering, he said it works great for him.
PM him for further clarifications.
